Had the weirdest dream last night…

I was with my parents, my grandparents and the boy in New York City. We were walking around the village and passed by NYU. I thought to myself “Why aren’t I here? I should go here”. So my family and I went in to take a tour. During the tour, I remembered how much I loved it and loved being in New York. I talked to the tour guide about what I liked and was interested in. She took me to the Gallatin (school for individualized study) office and told them about me. I filled out an application and they told me I’d be taking classes in theater, dance, history, writing, and sociology. I remember my mom crying, but I don’t know why.

I feel like my dream is trying to tell me something. I like Muhlenberg. But basically the only reason I’m there is for the theater/dance program. I’m in such a confusion as to what I want in my life. help me?!

missing him way too much.

Last day in New York for the week! Work has been great. I’m working with Kevin on finding people who would want to support or collaborate on God Projekt. So if you know any organization or school that would be interesting in working on a performing about the existence of god, creation, and human rights, let me know!

The dance class at Alvin Ailey was great. Took another Broadway class at Broadway Dance Center. Dreams come true!! I feel like a real theater artist living in New York. I guess if I couldn’t do it for college, this is my shot! Also got accepted into Broadway Artists Alliance College workshop for a weekend in June. That should be really cool. Will get to do alot of the musical theater training that I don’t get at school.

Okay, well its another cloudy, yucky day in the city. I’m off to work, and then straight to the bus to go home for the weekend.

So I figure since I’m going to be in this city for 3 months, I may as well blog about it.

I finally made it to NYC yesterday morning after 3 hours on the bolt bus. Ugh. Went straight to my first day at work. I have an internship with a theater company called Lone Wolf Tribe. They are a company that works primarily with puppets to create sociological and poignant theater works meant to make the audience think. I am working on all sides of this company, from social networking to filing and uploading pictures to helping create the puppets. I think its going to be a great experience.

So yesterday was my first day. I’m working under the artistic director, Kevin, who is awesome. Really chill and creative. Just the kind of person I want to be in a small dungeon like room with every day for 10 weeks. I worked on uploading some pictures from puppet crafting workshops and trying to make contact with the participants over facebook. After work, I took the subway (successfully!) back to my cousins apartment. I am staying here in the financial district just for this week, until I am able to move into my own apartment at NYU. I’m staying in what will shortly be my cousin’s newborn sons room. So right now, I’m sitting in a room that consists of a bed, baby furniture and clothes, a stroller, golf clubs and a huge bag of dog food. Its been nice though. Lots of fun food stands in the area, and its getting crowded because of the new 9/11 memorial down the street. Last night, my cousin and I got dinner from whole foods and watched the Sixers game. He’s such a bro.

TODAY!

Its been rainy and HUMID today. Not a great combination. I never would have thought I would sweat so much just by walking around. At least I’ll get into good shape while I’m here. Again made a successful trip on the subway. Once you learn uptown from downtown, its really very easy! Made it to Brooklyn early and took some time to explore the downtown area.  The building I work in is run by A.R.T and is home to over 30 different theater companies. When I walked in today, dozens of children were running around going to a music/creative movement type of class. It was shocking to me how many of the kids were brought to this class by women of color who were obviously not their mothers. Reminds me of “The Help”. Hmmmmm.

More organizing and emailing today at work. Posted some pictures on facebook and was told by some dude that they were “very offensive”. Sorry we’re progressive and liberal, get over it.

After that, I made a trip to the New York Public Library to return some things for Kevin. What an awesome place. Then back to the apartment.

The sun is starting to peek out! Yay! Off to have some dinner and then go to a dance class at Alvin Ailey *FREAKS OUT*

I’ll be posting some pictures soon

later

romeo:hey i just met you.
romeo:and this is crazy.
romeo:but i saw you at your dad's party that i wasn't supposed to attend and i thought you were pretty cute so i followed you and we kissed but then your nanny called you away and i found out you were a capulet and got bummed so i sneaked into your back yard in the middle of the night and climbed your balcony uninvited to profess my undying love after an hour even though i wanted to bone rosaline like two scenes ago.
romeo:so marry me maybe.
